Peggy Jones Gunnufson, 87, passed away on May 12, 2011 at her home in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Okmulgee, Okla.
Survivors include her two sons, Craig Gunnufson of Prescott Valley and Kent Gunnufson of Denver. Colo.; and her ex-husband Marvin C. Gunnufson of Tustin, Calif. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was the last family member of her generation. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in May of 1941 and then moved to California and attended Long Beach City College. During World War II, she worked at Douglas Aircraft.
After many years as a stay-at-home mom she got her real estate license and worked as a realtor. Then she worked as a bookkeeper and a tax consultant. She even became an enrolled agent with the IRS.
Peggy has lived in Prescott since 1994 when she moved from California. As an active member of TOPS for many years, she maintained her status as a KOP and served as the treasurer for the organization for much of that time.
Services will be at the Center for Spiritual Living, 3755 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, Ariz. at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011. In lieu of flowers, Peggy would like donations made to the local Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Shelter in Kanab, Utah in honor of her love of animals.
