The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 13, 1960, p. 1 Three Killed, One Injured In Crash East of Wittmann Robert Mecey, 20, of Phoenix and Jalmar Mathis, 47 of Wittmann were instantly killed at 1:15 a.m. Monday when the automobiles they were driving crashed head on one and one-half miles east of Wittmann on Highway 60-70. Mrs Hazel Mathis, 31, wife of the Wittmann man killed in the accident, died early Thursday morning in Community Hospital here from injuries received in the crash. Allen Thompson, 20, of Phoenix, passenger in the car driven by Mecey, is in a critical condition in St. Joseph Hospital at Phoenix. According to Highway Patrolman B. C. Irwin, Mecey was eastbound when his car crossed on the wrong side of the highway and crashed head on into the westbound Mathis car.
