The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, May 18, 2011 Glenda Kay Peterson Oberle Crawford of Wickenburg, Ariz., passed away April 28 in Banner Good Samaritan Trauma Hospital in Phoenix. She was born Aug. 2, 1945 in Caney, Kan. Glenda was the daughter of the late Rosetta (Bowen) Peterson and the late Robert Peterson. Glenda was the niece of Victor Peterson of Saline, Kan., and Viola, Harry, Norman, Ethel Peterson, and was the sister-in-law of Cathy Oberle Combs. Glenda married David Oberle in 1963. He preceded her in death, as did their oldest son Steven. She later married Pat Crawford. Glenda is survived by sons David Oberle Jr. of Wickenburg and Michael Oberle and wife Kay of Euless, Texas and daughters Kay Crawford and Audrey Crawford, both of Wickenburg, Ariz. Glenda was a devoted parent and a fierce and dedicated friend. Her compassion and concern for those less fortunate or in need brightened many lives. She was always one of the first with a phone call, a visit, consoling words or a donation of her time to help others. She was an involved member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church of Wickenburg, serving as a Chalice Bearer and as a Lector. Glenda was diligent about her daughters’ participation as Acolytes and made sure that they never missed a scheduled date. Glenda was an active member of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Alban’s. She was the organizer and driving force behind the gathering and sending of hand-knitted goods and other items to servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan, making personal friends of the squad leaders and carrying on an active correspondence during their time of duty. She worked closely with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Legion Auxiliary in Wickenburg to fund and mail the many parcels. She brought out the best in others and made it possible for everyone to feel needed. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for her daughters’ college education. Memorials can be directed to The Crawford Girls Education Fund, c/o Tamara Thomas, P.O.
