FREDINBURG, Emogene (Jean)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, May 18, 2011 Emogene “Jean” Fredinburg, a longtime Wickenburg resident, passed away May 9 of complications of Alzheimer’s. Jean was born in Alabama on Oct. 23, 1927. She migrated to Michigan in 1950 and then to Wickenburg in 1955 where she and her first husband Ray Herndon operated “The Old Corral Cafe,” “The Chili Bowl,” and “Jeans Cafe.” Jean was remarried in 1969 to Gil Fredinburg. Jean and Gil operated “The Dunes Lounge” in Glendale and “The Bar 7 Restaurant” in Wickenburg until their retirement. Jean is preceded in death by husband Gilbert Fredinburg. She is survived by one son Gary (Diane) Herndon of Chandler, one stepdaughter Karlene (Jake) Bender of Congress, Ariz. She is also survived by grandchildren Andrea (Bill) Serrano of Chandler, Rachel (Jeffrey) Rabenstein of Peoria, Monica Herndon of Wickenburg; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Wickenburg Elks Club on May 21 at 11 a.m. The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
