Shirley Deman, 62, longtime Arizona resident, died in Biloxi, Miss. On Good Friday, April 22, 2011, Shirley was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident, on Highway 90, in Biloxi/Gulfport.
She was entering a new phase of her life, with her companion, Jim Hogg, of Cheyenne, Wyo. Shirley and Jim were traveling across the country in their motor coach, combined with a "bike" rally to visit the Vietnam Veterans Wall in Washington, D.C.
Shirley was manager of Heber RV Resort for three years. She and her hard-working staff were responsible for making the resort a beautiful and peaceful place in the pines. She was a member of the Heber/Overgaard American Legion, Post #86, participating in many of the Legion Riders organized rides. Shirley also was manager of Meridian RV Resort in Apache Junction.
Shirley is survived by her three children; grandchildren; sister Colleen, of Heber, and many friends. Her companion, Jim, also survives, and is currently undergoing physical therapy.
Memorial services were held in Atlanta, Ga. and Mesa. Donations were made to the Make A Wish Foundation. Another memorial service is planned for the fall, at the Meridian Resort.
