The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, July 9, 2003 Herminia Bento Borges, 81, passed away into God's arms on Saturday, July 5, 2003. She was born to Elvira and Joaquim Bento Tenreiro on November 24, 1921 in Gouveia, Portugal, and moved to the United States in 1940. She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, from Bethel, Connecticut in 1999. She had two brothers and one sister. Jack Borges, her husband of 42 years, preceded her in death along with her brother, Danial, and sister, Emily. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Nickerson of Scottsdale, and son, David J. Borges of Walla Walla, Washington; and one brother, Jack Bento Tenreiro of Bethel, Connecticut, along with several nieces and nephews. Hermie was a sweet, loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The immediate family will be celebrating her life privately at St. Patrick's Chapel on July 9 at 9:30 A.M. and, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Odyssey Hospice, 202 E. Earll Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85012 or the Alzheimers Association in her memory.
