Karen N. Chung, 41, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2003. She was born in Kings-ton, Jamaica, W.I. on October 29, 1961. She and her family immigrated to the United States of America in 1977 where they settled in Hollywood, Florida. She graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked at Broward General Hospital. Karen met and married her devoted husband, Aubrey J. Chung, Jr., in 1986. They moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1988 and were blessed with their first child, AJ, in December 1989. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in July 1994 and completed their beautiful family with Colin in 1995, Briana in 1997, and David in 1998. She was happiest in her roles of wife and mother. She did volunteer work at St. Jerome School. Her cheerful and unselfish personality was addictive and many were drawn to her. Karen put up a brave fight against liver cancer with metastatic cancer to the lungs since her diagnosis in October 2002. She past away quietly at home with her husband and family by her side. Karen is survived by her husband, Aubrey J. Chung Jr., sons, AJ, Colin and David, daughter, Briana; her parents, Leo and Rosemary Chin of Hollywood, FL; sisters, Leonie Chin-Duncan of Fort Collins, CO, and Michele Chin of Hollywood, FL, and brother, Gregory of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2003, at St. Jerome Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix, AZ, and a visitation will be opened to family and friends on Friday night 5-8 PM at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 10 AM at the Nativity Catholic Church, 5220 Johnson Street, Hollywood, FL 33021. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Karen Chung Memorial Fund, deposit Bank of America, Acct No. 4657530615. Published in the Arizona Republic from 7/9/2003 - 7/10/2003.
