The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, May 28, 2011 Evelyn W. Elliott entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior May 27, 2011, at her home in Prescott, Ariz., at the age of 93, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was retired from the Arizona Department of Education after many years of traveling around the state presenting budget workshops to school districts. She was a longtime member of Casa Belles, dancing and kicking up her heels while performing at many locations in the tri-city area. The Casa Belles lovingly did a performance as a tribute to Evelyn for her many years with the group at the Arizona Pioneers' Home earlier this spring. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her sister, Lois Newman. She is survived by her niece, Janice Mauz (John); nephews Tim Newman (Merg) and Mike Newman (Sandra "Sam"); great-nephews Gus Hedberg (Leah and their children Forrest and Gretchen who were the lights of her life); Seth Hedberg (Holly); and beloved cousin Jean Robinson. Evelyn was always a true Southern lady. Her genteel and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service to celebrate her life and her going home will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society Marley House Chapel, 1063 Ruth St., Prescott. Donations in Evelyn's memory may be made to GSS Hospice Compassionate Care Fund, 1065 Ruth St., Prescott, AZ 86301. Sunrise Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
