Eugene Martin Hughes, 89, of Kingman, AZ, made his transition Monday, May 16, 2011. He was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Lewis County, Ky., to the late George F. Hughes and Hulda McDonald Hughes.
Gene, as we all affectionately call him, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired machinist.
He leaves to mourn the staff/family of Stansells Private Homecare; his friend, Shield Cole; his sister-in-law, Willena Hughes; and a host of friends in the Mesa Verde Mobile Park; and friends at IHOP, ABC Restaurant, Golden Corral and El Palacio, all here in Kingman (Gene loved eating out). He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Hughes; his brother, Howard Hughes; sister, Virginia Adkins; and loving pet, Jazz.
Services will be private at Desert Lawn Funeral Home in Mohave Valley, Ariz. Cards, memorials, etc., may be sent to Stansells, 2205 Mesa Drive, Kingman, AZ 86401.
Gene's cheery smile, great laugh and wonderful sense of humor will be missed.
He was one of God's honorable men.
