The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Aug 5, 1960, p. 1 Rites Held Here For C. O. DeWitt Funeral services were held in the Wickenburg Chapel on Monday for C. O. (Dewey) DeWitt, Salome business man who died in the Phoenix General Hospital Friday of last week. The Rev. Bruce Caldwell, pastor of the Salome Baptist Church, officiated with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr DeWitt, who was 51 years old, had been ill for several months but was hospitalized only one week. He was born in Anderson, Ind., and moved to Arizona 17 years ago. He resided in Wittmann, Prescott and Wickenburg before moving to Salome where he owned and operated a truck stop business. Survivors include the widow, Melvina, and six children; Shirley Ann, Diana Kay and Edith May of Salome; Mrs Edwin Richards of Lawndale, Calif.; R. W. DeWitt of Bellflower, Calif.; and Mrs Cliff Staggs of Salome. Also surviving are a brother, Lawrence DeWitt of Anderson, Ind.; a sister, Mrs James Flory of Muskogee, Okla.; the stepmother, Mrs Elsie DeWitt of Anderson, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
