Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Thursday, June 02, 2011 Jean T. Yazzie, 94, of Leupp, died May 29, 2011, peacefully at her granddaughter's home in Flagstaff. She was born Oct. 15, 1916, in Black Mountain, to James Edward and Bertha (Duff) Haasch. Her maternal clan is Tsi'naajinii (Honeycomb Rock Clan) and her paternal clan is Tsi'naajinii (Black Streak Forest Clan). Mrs. Yazzie was a weaver with natural colors. She enjoyed raising her children, gardening, raising her livestock (sheep and goats) and having visitors. Mrs. Yazzie is survived by her daughters, Cleo (Virgil) Todecozy, Helen F. Begay and Bernita Morris; son Kee F. (Lorraine) Yazzie; sister Mae Smith; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Yazzie; son Andrew Yazzie; sisters Grace Thompson and Elsie Benally; brothers Justin Dick, Nelson Thompson, Martin Store and John Martin Store; her parents; and three other children who died very young. A funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. MST at the Leupp Presbyterian Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at condolences@Lozanos-FlagstaffMortuary.com.
