Services with military honors will be 1 p.m. June 10, 2011 at Prescott National Cemetery. Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home. ~~~~~~~~~~~ The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona Tuesday, June 07, 2011 Jack W. Brown, Sr. died May 28, 2011 in Prescott. He was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Okemah, Okla. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Dustin High School (Okla.). After marrying Ruth and moving to the Phoenix area, he worked as a roofer in the construction industry until retirement. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman, played softball and bowled for many years. After retiring, he planted a garden each summer at their home in Show Low, where he and Ruth were members of the White Mountain United Methodist Church. Approximately two years prior to his death, he and Ruth moved to Prescott Valley, to be closer to family. He maintained strong ties to his Oklahoma roots and visited annually. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Brown of Prescott; daughters Debra Wheelis of Flagstaff and Rita Villegas of Phoenix; sons: Jack Brown Jr. of Prescott Valley; grandchildren: Melissa Boeck of Flagstaff, Erin Wheelis of Portland, Ore., Cody May of Chelsea of Okla., Michael Villegas of Phoenix and Niko Villegas of Phoenix; great- grandchildren: Emily Boeck, Canton May, and Elijah Boeck. He is also survived by his brothers: Albert Brown of Dustin Okla., Bill Brown of Lake Eufaula, Okla., and James Brown of Henryetta, Okla. Funeral arrangements were handled by Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley.
