Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Sunday, June 05, 2011 Joan Brown Schumann, 78, lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 30, 2011, in Flagstaff. Mrs. Schumann was born in Wabeno, Wis., on Nov. 3, 1932. She owned Flagstaff Precision Dental Lab for the past 10 years. She was a wonderful friend and mother with a great spirit and sense of humor. She was very loving and giving and she said the best times of her life were raising her children. She loved her family, friends, her pets, hiking, dancing, swimming, church, Bible study, volunteering, books and traveling. Her travels included a cruise to Alaska, a river trip down the Colorado River, Japan, China, Germany, England, Scotland and throughout the Southwest. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Allan Schumann Sr.; six children, Nancy (Harry) Bruch, Daniel (Christine) Brown, David (Jean) Brown, Dale (Nora) Brown, Judy (Pete) Weiss, Sandy (Eric) Roessler; stepson Allan Schumann Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Sally and Carol; and brothers Richard, Edward and Daniel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bertha Haasch, and her first husband, Lester Brown. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3430 N. Fourth Street, in Flagstaff. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002 or Second Chance Center for Animals, 11665 N.
