The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, June 04, 2011 Former Prescott resident Kim Anne Johnson died at Senior Care of Onion Creek in Austin, Texas, on May 23, 2011, after a lengthy cancer battle. Kim was born June 17, 1955, in Aberdeen, S.D. Kim was raised in Aberdeen and graduated in 1974 from Roncalli High School and attended West Virginia University. Kim was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain, breast, bone, lung and liver cancer on March 12, 2010, in Prescott. Kim is survived by her best friend and soul mate, Dr. Brian; her father, Clarence Johnson of Sun City, Ariz.; a daughter, Dione Tilston Owens of Austin, Texas; a son, Keith Tilston of Austin, Texas; four brothers, Paul Johnson of Ohio, Wayne Johnson of Wyoming, Mark Johnson of Nevada and Dave Johnson of Ohio; a sister, Joyce Johnson of Prescott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kim is preceded in death by her mother, Florence Johnson Zollar. Kim was a fashion designer and owned Denim Edge/Austin Vintage in Austin for many years. She was an expert at buying and selling vintage clothing all over the world. Kim was the essence of a free spirit, soaring with the eagles. Kim's theme song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. She lived life to the fullest and did it her way. She loved adventure and embraced change. Kim did not have a care or worry in the world. Kim had tremendous peace and joy in her life. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, without regard to anyone's opinion. Kim's passion was gourmet cooking. Kim was a superb gourmet cook. Kim was meticulous, buying quality ingredients at Farmers Markets and Whole Foods for her culinary masterpieces. Kim poured her heart into every meal to make certain it was healthy and superior in presentation. Kim promoted and lived a healthy lifestyle and food without chemicals. Kim enjoyed a fine Merlot or dark ale. Kim donated hundreds of hours to Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters and numerous nursing homes in the Prescott area. We are eternally grateful to Hospice Austin, Christopher House and Senior Care Onion Creek for the superior care the last year of Kim's life. Kim was a member of the Christian Science at the time of her death. Cremation has taken place at Angel Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. Donations may be made to the Yavapai Prescott Boys & Girls Club.
