Laura Tyler, 92, of Prescott, Ariz., born Dec. 1, 1918, in Spokane, Wash., passed away May 30, 2011, in Prescott Valley, Ariz.
Services will be 11:15 a.m. June 18, 2011, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, Calif., and in September at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home.

Laura Tyler died May 30, 2011, at the Golden Leaf Care Center. She was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Lawson (T.) and Jenny (Stamback) Callison. Laura was 92 years old.
Laura graduated with a B.A. from Eastern Washington University in 1940. George and Laura moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 2000 after living in Los Angeles for 40 years. While living in Los Angeles, Laura taught at the Pilgrim School for two decades before starting a school of her own.
Laura was a very accomplished woman who loved nature. Her greatest joy was animals and spending time at the Griffith Park Zoo as a docent. She played golf and even learned to fly a plane. In the winter of 1964 Laura demonstrated her extraordinary pedagogical skill once by teaching the three daughters of her closest friend, Dolly Barnhart, a year's worth of math over the three-week Christmas holidays in preparation for their upcoming move to Japan.
In addition to Dolly, Laura is survived by her brother-in-law, Seymour T. Taylor, and several nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by George on Oct 10, 2010, and their daughter Tamela Laurie in 1983. Laura is also survived by longtime friends Valmere Lynn Kasala and Dr. Steven Kinigstein, Jane and Robert Nixon, Anne and Al White, Dr. Irene Royko and Richard Michelson, Lou and Willie Rubottom, Blais Wight, Joe and Vikki Kozora and Nadine (Nicky) Collins.
Laura will be buried next to George at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills at 11:15 a.m. June 18, 2011.
