A celebration of life commemorating the life of Associate Pastor Stephen J. Horsey, 58, of Flagstaff, will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Chapel in Flagstaff.
"Pastor Steve," a beloved husband and father, died on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
Mr. Horsey was born on Aug. 3, 1952, to the late Norman and "Rusty" Horsey (Phippen) in Ford Ord, Calif. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force, served in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. He attended New Mexico State University, participating on the football team and with the marching band.
He was married to Alyce Franklin Derrington on Oct. 24, 1980, in Phoenix. They lived in Phoenix for 13 years before moving to Flagstaff. He was born-again on Dec. 27, 1977, and was ordained as a pastor on Dec. 18, 1995. He enjoyed leading worship and teaching Bible studies in the service of our Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alyce of Flagstaff; and three sons, Christopher of Portland, Ore., Andrew of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Joshua of Lubbock, Texas.
The family suggests that donations be made to Calvary Chapel Flagstaff, 7725 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
