Homer L. Johns, Jr., age 87, a 25-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., entered into rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev.
Homer was the youngest child born to Homer Land and Eva Storey in Montgomery, Ala., on April 1, 1924. Homer had two older sisters, Janice and Marjorie. After high school graduation, he joined the Marine Corps for two years where he served in the Pacific area.
In 1947, he married Blanche E. Rutherford and they lived in California, where they had three sons and two daughters. During this time, he worked for Republic Steel until his retirement.
Homer then moved to Bullhead City, Ariz. In 1990, he married Mary Lou Coffman. They liked to travel, golf, dance ride horses and go to the Casinos.
Homer was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Blanche in 1986; son, Alan in California on Dec. 21, 2010, and sister, Janice on Feb. 6, 2011.
Homer is survived his by wife, of 21 years, Mary Lou Johns; two sons, Steven (whereabouts unknown), and Homer III (Jenny divorced); two daughters, Sandi (Rick), and Cindy (Pete); daughter-in-law, Candy; sister, Marjorie J. Hanks from Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; two step-children; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-granddaughters.
Homer will be cremated.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
