The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, June 09, 2011 Ann Andrews Hall passed away on June 7, 2011, in Santa Rosa, Calif. She was a kind woman with a generous spirit, and was the devoted wife of the late James Farmer Hall. Ann was the cherished mother of James Farmer Hall Jr., John Andrews "Andy" Hall (Kathleen), Jane Hartley Hall and Brooke Holve (Richard); beloved grandmother of Ryan Hall (Lexa), Cori Shechter (Todd), Mattie Hall, Nate Hall, Martha Grove (Dennis), Katie Glattfelder (Coby), Matt Finch, Brendan Holve, and Andrew Holve; adored great-grandmother of eight and one on the way; and loving sister of the late John Andrews and Robert Andrews. Ann, 87 years old, was a volunteer for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott, Ariz., and Star of the Valley Catholic Church, Santa Rosa, Calif., and NAMI. She was the manager for the Pine Lakes Community in Prescott for more than 15 years. Ann was born Anna Bess Andrews to Ethel (Johnson) and John Andrews in Medina, N.Y., but was reared and educated in Lyndonville, N.Y. She graduated with a BA from Buffalo State and taught elementary school in San Diego and Long Beach. It was in San Diego that she met and married James Hall, who was an officer in the U.S. Navy. As a naval officer's wife, Ann traveled the United States while raising her four children. They retired to Prescott, living there for more than 20 years. A few years after his passing, she moved to Sonoma County to be closer to her children. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed playing cards, playing the piano, reading, walking and hiking. With the sparkle in her eyes and beautiful smile, she was loved by all who met her, people and animals alike. Above all, Ann loved her family; she will be missed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Recitation of the Rosary, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 10 a.m., followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Drive, Santa Rosa, Calif. Contributions may be made to NAMI Sonoma County, 1300 N Dutton Ave., Suite A, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 in memory of Ann A. Hall.
