MARTIN, Robert (Bob)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Monday, June 13, 2011 - Robert (Bob) Martin passed away in Las Vegas Friday, June 3, 2011 after a stroke. Born in Denver on May 3, 1935 to Lillie F. (Brown) and Forest R. Martin. Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Bob served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Kearsarge as Machinist Mate 2 from December 1954 to May 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda (Manifold) on Oct. 10, 1959. They shared 51 wonderful years before Our Lord called Bob home. Bob attended two years of college to pursue his love of art. He worked at Excellon in California, as a cabinet maker and carpenter in Flagstaff. Bob retired from the Flagstaff Medical Center in 2000. They moved to Lake Havasu City to enjoy retirement. He had many hobbies, but especially hot rods and RC planes. Bob put everything he had into any project he pursued. He really loved learning new things and keeping up with the latest inventions. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie (Brown) and Forest Martin, his daughter, Debbie Hamilton of Flagstaff, sister, Roberta Reel of Medicine Bow, Wyo. Bob is survived by wife Brenda, daughter Pamela (Doug) Hare of Flagstaff, sons; Kevin (Melissa) Martin of Lake Havasu City and Scott (Paula) of Overland Park, Kan., brother, Forest (Ellie) Martin of Hayden, Idaho, sister Becky Golden of Fountain Valley, Calif. and sister Ruth Callahan (Pete) of Wickenburg. Grandchildren: Mike (Tonya) Hare of Mesa, Tim (Jolynn) Hare of Culbertson, Neb., Jessica Hare of Flagstaff, Jennifer and Candis Martin of Tucson, Kristopher and Brandon Martin of Overland Park, Kan. And eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Nazarene Church at 2700 Rainbow, Lake Havasu City, at 1 p.m. Pastor Carlton Harvey officiating. Reception to follow at the church.
