Lorraine Long passed away May 31, 2011, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 81. She was born to Norman and Gladys (Woods) Taylor Oct. 27, 1929, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Lorraine and her family moved from Toronto to Long Beach, Calif., arriving July 4, 1957. She married her beloved husband, Al Long, Nov. 5, 1948, and together they made Lake Havasu their home 20 years ago from Los Alamitos, Calif.
Lorraine was a homemaker until March of 1962 with her skills of cooking and sewing and raising two daughters, keeping her very busy. She was offered a job with husband Al’s company, Matson Navigation Co., as switchboard operator and advancing through the company to Executive Administrative Assistant Personnel until retiring December 1987 with 25 years service. After retirement, they moved to Lake Havasu in January 1992.
Al and Lorraine traveled extensively, mostly taking cruises, seeing three quarters of the world.
Lorraine leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Al; two daughters, Kathy and Susan; son-in-law, Lyle; grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Kristie and Eric; great-granddaughter, Hailey; and soon to be great-grandson, not yet named; sister Joan; brother-in-law, Gil; nephews, Gary and Grant; and her special doggie Baylee.
Memorial services will be June 25, at 11 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Chaplain Katherine Kenney will offer words of comfort and inspiration. The family has requested that everyone come to celebrate her life to dress cheerful and colorful, not in black for mourning.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations go in Lorraine’s memory to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
