Betty Jane Bush passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 79 years of age at her apartment in Miami, Ariz. Betty was born Aug. 14, 1931 on a farm near Olivet, S.D. to Harry and Flossie (Gosser) Bush.
At the early age of 11 years, her mother passed away, so her father sold the farm and moved to Portland, Ore. with Betty and her brother Jack. In 1945, they moved back to Olivet. Betty completed her high school education at Menno, S.D. After graduation she entered nurses training at Rapid City, S.D. and graduated in 1957. She worked for a few years in Igloo, S.D.
A few years later she took a job as an RN on the reservation at San Carlos, Ariz. She then went to work at the hospital in Globe, Ariz. Betty took a job as a traveling nurse and saw a lot of the country, especially Alaska where she went several times and enjoyed the sight seeing tours. She loved crocheting, camping, fishing, and collecting southwestern Native American artwork.
Her patients always came first. She loved her trailer house. When she could no longer manage it, she moved into her apartment which she loved.
Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother; oldest brother, Bill, and his wife, Orpha; and brother, Jack.
She is survived by her brother Charles (Margaret); sister-in-law, Toots; and many nieces and nephews along with special friends, Jackie of Globe, Ariz., Caroline of Minnesota, and Bee of Scotland, S.D.
