Charles T Hyder Is Taken By Death
Wickenburg citizens mourned the passing this week of another old timer--Charles T Hyder who died last Thursday evening at the home of his brother, John, in Phoenix.
Charlie came to Arizona from his native Syria 48 years ago and had lived 42 years in Wickenburg, where in the early days he operated a freight line in this district hauling materials and supplies to the mines. Also back in the horse and buggy days he maintained a livery stable in the Town of Wickenburg. Many thrilling and exciting stories were related by Charlie as he recalled the escapades occuring here during territorial days. He was a well-known figure throughout Arizona, but known particularly in Wickenburg--the town he loved and helped build.
Charlie had been in ill health several years and during the past year or so resided with his brother in Phoenix, having retired from the garage and contracting business in Wickenburg.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Phoenix and attended by many of his friends from here, particularly the old timers. He was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. In addition to his brother he is survived by two nephews, William J and Fred J of Phoenix, and two nieces, Mrs Nellie Freye, Phoenix and Mrs Selma Atrich, El Paso.
