The world lost an amazing man when Kenneth "Ken" Thompson, age 74, a 25-year resident of Bullhead City, lost his four-year battle to lung cancer on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Ken, a retired meat cutter from Safeway, was born on June 27, 1936, in Bell, Calif., where he spent the first part of his life. There he met Carol, they married and began their family, and spent 55 wonderful years side-by-side.
Ken had a wry sense of humor and candidly talked about his death. He asked for the photo of him walking away to be put in his obituary with a caption saying, There he goes ... " His fingerprints will never fade from our hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Tom, Richie and Ronnie; daughter, Patty; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
"God looked around his garden and he found an empty place.
And then He looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home."
