BACA, Vidal Lonnie

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/17/2011 Vidal Lonnie Baca, 55, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at his residence in Springerville. He was born Feb. 1, 1956 in Reserve, N.M., the son of Vidal and Juanita Dolores Cordova Baca. Lonnie worked for Arizona Department of Transportation as a Tech 3. He was truly a one-of-a-kind individual; honest, trustworthy and kind. He was quick to greet everyone with a smile, a handshake and a friendly word. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife Lynn more than life and a proud father who reveled in even the smallest accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Lonnie was always the first to offer a helping hand and wouldn't leave until he was sure the job was done, and done right. His love for the logwoods, coupled with a competitive nature, made Lonnie a self-proclaimed lumberjack competition addict; ‘Sawdust in my veins' as he was so fond of saying. He made the world a better place and he will truly be missed. "We love you very much, Dad, and we'll try to make you proud." Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Baca; sons: Lukas Baca of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Landon Baca of Scranton, Pa.; daughter Leigh Baca of Safford; parents Vidal and Dolores Baca; brothers: Kerry Baca, Randy Baca and Greg Baca; sisters: Bonnie Armijo and Penny Ellis; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
