WARD, Oliver Lee


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/17/2011 Oliver Lee Ward died June 11, 2011, in Lakeside at the Sierra Blanca Rehab Facility. Oliver spent his younger years in Texas.After getting married to Lotta, they came to Arizona in 1937. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII 1944-1945. Oliver spent 35 years with El Paso Natural Gas Co. When not working he enjoyed fishing, antique bottle collecting, listening to old time fiddler's music and doing his family history-genealogy. Oliver reunited with his wife Lotta Esther Ward of 61 years who preceded him in death 22 years prior. Oliver is survived his two daughters: Winona Downs (Marvin) and Jensie Trickett (Gary), seven grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, June 15, at Silver Creek Mortuary, 745 Paper Mill Road in Taylor with a viewing at 9 a.m. and with services beginning at 10 a.m. There will also be a service Friday, June 17, at the Brown and Page Mortuary in Douglas with a viewing at 9 a.m. and services to start at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Cotton Wood Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor.
