The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, July 11, 2003 Thelma Rosemary Hill Brekken 80, of Mesa, AZ, passed away Friday, July 4, 2003, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. Born July 13, 1922 in Wilder, Vermont, Thelma moved to Riverton, Wyoming, as an employee of Miller Geophysical; there she married Stanley Brekken in 1948, and together they owned and operated Brekken Construction Company and the Paintbrush Motel In Mesa. Thelma was a volunteer at Valley Lutheran Hospital and worked as pharmacy technician at Walgreen Drug and as office manager assistant at Alta Dermatology. Thelma is survived by her husband. Stanley Brekken, by daughters Joan Brekken and Joyce Brekken, all of Mesa, and by brother Carlton Hill and sister Joyce Hill. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m., September 4, 2003, at the Broadway Christian Church, 7335 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
