The Prescott Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 7, 2006 Mildred (Mickie) Burmister passed away at Meadow Park Care Center on Saturday, June 3, 2006. She was 87. She was born on Jan. 17, 1919 in Sterling, Colo., to Harold and Mina (Surface) Ball. Mrs. Burmister, moved with her family to Arizona when she was a year old. The family settled in Rainbow Valley (which is now Yavapai Hills), where the family ran a small dairy/ranch. Mildred and her sisters had the chore of cleaning and sterilizing all the milk jugs for the next day's milk delivery. She attended Lynx Creek School and Prescott Public Schools. One of the highlights of Mildred's younger years was having Sharlot Hall come for dinner after church on Sunday afternoons. She worked for Miller Valley Variety, Evans Drug Store, and 25 years as floor supervisor for Cornet Stores. Mildred was most proud of her family and was always there for them. She loved gardening, playing the piano and her many friends. She will be missed dearly by all. Survivors include her daughter Shirley (Daryl) Ballew of Skull Valley; sister, Ruth (Arden) Carter of Walnut Grove; grandchildren, Wayne, Jeff and Shawn Sudduth of Prescott; Kim Fornara of Cottonwood; and Larry Ballew of Phoenix; also 5 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband of 44 years, Cecil Burmister, in 1980; daughter Roberta Sudduth; sisters, Virginia Maxwell and Mary Vaughn; and parents Harold and Mina Ball. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Skull Valley Cemetery on Iron Springs Road. Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
