NOLEN, Rodney Smith


The Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on June 26, 2011 - Rodney "Rod" Smith Nolen died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in Kingman. Born in Texas and raised in Las Vegas, Rod served the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He raised his family in Las Vegas and Kingman, where he owned and operated Rhino Electric and held an associate faculty position at Mohave Community College. After several years in Las Vegas working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 357, Rod retired to Kingman where he met his fiancé, Connie Carstens, with whom he spent his final years. He was an active member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kingman and was a lover of astronomy. He was preceded in death by his father, Smith Nolen; and brother, Councilman Robert "Bob" Nolen of Las Vegas. Rod is survived by his children, Eric "Thor" Nolen of Seattle, Gina (Kevin) Crabtree of Wichita, Kan., and Sheri (Alan) Smith of Flagstaff; mother, Mildred Nolen of Las Vegas; sisters, Joy (Dallas) Adair and Sue Edwards; grandchildren, Koel, Emma, Ashley and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
