Virginia "Leigh" Gentry Jones, age 82, passed away May 18, 2006. Leigh was born in the Mercy Hospital in Prescott to C. E. "Brownie" Gentry and Duke Lewis Gentry. A graduate of Prescott High School, she attended Arizona State in Tempe, and for 27 years she worked in the Yavapai County Treasurer's office.
Leigh thoroughly enjoyed being part of Prescott's early history, which was reflected in her years of support for The Arizona Historical Society and Sharlot Hall Museum to ensure the preservation of the past for future generations. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Leigh was preceded in death by both her husband of 56 years, J.C. "Carl Jones and her daughter, Caria Jones Bohl.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Post of Scottsdale, four nieces and two nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at the United Methodist Church in Prescott, followed by a light luncheon.
Interment will be for immediate family at the Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Yavapai Humane Society, 1625 Sundog Ranch Road, Prescott, Ariz., 86301.
