Services for Thomas Foy “Barney” Barnette, 68, who had been a heavy equipment operator 40 years for the Arizona State Highway Department, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wickenburg Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites were held at the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Mr Barnett, son of the late Mr & Mrs J. R. Barnette, pioneer residents of Wickenburg lived in this community up until about 1954.
Mr. Barnette, 1702 W. Vogel, died in his home in Phoenix.
Born on the Bloody Tanks Wash on a goat ranch where Miami now is located he had lived throughout the state before settling in Phoenix 15 years ago.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wickenburg, Operating Engineers Union and was a baseball pitcher at one time in the state and for a Union Oil team in California. He received disability retirement from the highway department five years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty M. Barnette; two brothers, Lee A. of Phoenix and Wayland of San Francisco; three sisters, Mrs Nelle Heuloth of Phoenix, Mrs Ethel Johnson of Tucson, and Mrs Alice Whadford of Lazear, Colo.
