DAVIDSON, Myrtle Jane

(Maiden Name: Swaney)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Monday, June 27, 2011 - Myrtle Jane Davidson passed away Friday, June 24, 2011, in Lake Havasu City. She was born June 17, 1914, in Sedalia, Ohio, to Samuel and Samantha Leach Swaney. She was the 11th of 12 children and was teased by her siblings with the title Lady Jane because of her love of neatness. Myrtle’s genealogy searches show direct lines to family from Wales and Germany arriving in America in the 1600s. In 1926, she moved to Los Angeles to live with her sister. In 1932, Myrtle married her eldest sister Martha’s husband’s youngest brother, Al Davidson. Cousins and siblings spent many memorable hours together. Al and Myrtle shared a wonderful life full of love, happiness, laughter, family, and warmth for 67 years. This relationship was reflected by the words in their favorite song “Always.” Lines from that song join them together in their final resting place with the words “I’ll be loving you always … With a love that’s true, always.” She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al, and daughters, Marlene Millard and Monica Hoke. Survivors include her daughter, Dee Madison, and son, Kelly Davidson, both of Lake Havasu City. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, including great-grandson Ethan, born just three weeks ago. In addition, she leaves numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful people who assisted Myrtle in her final journey. A special thank-you to the Hospice of Havasu team and the caretakers at Lake View Terrace. There will be a celebration of Myrtle’s life at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Orange, Calif., where she will join Al and her daughters. The family has requested donations in Myrtle’s memory to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
