Pat passed away peacefully in Lake Havasu City, at Serenity Assisted Living with loving staff by her side on June 23, 2011. She was just 87 years young. Pat was born in Springfield, Mass. to Clarke and Erma L. (Rose) Cloran. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1941 and took many night courses there, and at Western N.E. College and A.I.C. in Springfield, Mass. She was an eager learner throughout her life.
Pat was married to Sidney Theodore Nelson from September 15, 1948 until his death on July 21, 1994. Pat worked for 30 years as a general office clerk and managed at several companies. One of her favorites was the Berkshire Organ Company in West Springfield, Mass. She maintained life-long contact with Jan Rowland and Richard Shuler who worked there with her. She carried her office skills into her personal life and was a proficient user of her “DOS" computer.
When Pat was living in New Hampshire, she started as a volunteer at Weeks State Park and worked there for four years. She became a manager/docent and was a friend to all who visited. She was responsible for cleaning and refurbishing the many birds on display there. Pat was an accomplished artist and bird watcher and photographer. She traveled to many places including Scotland, Hawaii, and Arizona in pursuit of her love of nature and to paint what she discovered. She did many bird paintings, furniture paintings, and other assorted wood articles. She also did calligraphy. They will forever be enjoyed by family and friends. Pat also traveled with her best friend, Florence, hiking up the mountains in New Hampshire and many places in Arizona.
She was a cat lover and extended her special "puppy love" to "the girls" China, Misty, and Pebbles who loved to sit on her lap. Oh, the stories she shared, and she never lost her dry sense of humor and wit.
Pat is survived by her brother, Brendon (Maxine) Cloran, and nieces, Deborah, Jill, and Holly, and nephew, Jeffrey. She will be dearly missed by them all as well as her friends Florence, Betty, Jim, and Wayne (Pat) who considered her his "New Hampshire Mom". Many other family and friends will feel her absence. Pat's parents preceded her in death.
Pat planned for no services or viewing and will have her ashes scattered on Mt. Prospect in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ, 86405, whose staff gave her the most loving care and attention. Her family and friends also wish to thank all of the staff at Serenity Assisted Living for providing a loving home for her.
