The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 25, 1969, p. 15 JOSEPH ORTEGA Funeral mass was offered at 9 a. m. Wednesday of this week in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Phoenix for Joseph V. Ortega, a pioneer resident of this area and long time resident on the Hassayampa River southeast of town, who died September 20 at his home on Apache Street. Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix, where Mr Ortega had made his home for 14 years before returning to Wickenburg four years ago. Mr Ortega was 97 years of age and had been a resident of Arizona for 88 of those years, including 14 in Phoenix. He was a native of San Jose, Calif. He is survived by two sons, Ben L. of Wickenburg and Joseph V., of Fresno, Calif.; two daughters, Alduvina Ortega of Clovis, Calif., and Mrs Dora Quihuis of Eloy, Ariz., and a sister, Monica Ortega of Glendale, Calif. Fifteen grandchildren also survive.
