The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 11, 1969, p. 15 DEATH CLAIMS BURKE PAYNE Desert Caballeros of this area were sorry to learn of the death, on Thanksgiving Day, of Burke Carey Payne, Phoenix investment executive and long-time member of the Caballeros. Mr Payne made his first ride out of her in 1951. He only missed one ride, that of 1960, in the years between 1951 and 1968. He was the oldest living active member of the Desert Caballeros. Funeral services and burial took place in Phoenix November 29.
