ESTES, Lily Patricia (Pat)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/01/2011 Lily Patricia "Pat" Estes, 88 died peacefully on June 25, 2011. Pat was born and raised in northern England and joined the British Army, serving during WWII. After spending years in Nigeria and Canada following the war, she moved to Phoenix with her family in 1964 and always felt Arizona was her true home. She enjoyed reading, bridge and spent almost eight years sailing the Bahamas and Europe on a 37-foot sailboat before retiring to Scottsdale, Tucson and finally in Lakeside. ln her long life, she was able to travel and see and do all that she had ever dreamed of doing and seeing. Her husband Charles Lee Estes in 2007 and son Robert Johnson in 1993 preceded Pat in death. She is survived by sisters Winnie Trimble of York, England, Julie Knapp of Paris, France, daughter Laura Scholten (Pete) of Show Low, stepchildren Nancy Estes of Guinea, Africa, Richard Estes DVM, of Ocala, Florida and two grandchildren; John Scholten of Mesa and Michael Scholten of Flagstaff. A celebration of life is scheduled for July 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Solterra at the White Mountains 2nd floor chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to White Mountain Hospice Foundation, L7B9 W Commerce Drive, Lakeside, AZ 85929 or White Mountain Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 2042, Show Low, AZ 85902. Arrangements have been entrusted to Black's Show Low Mortuary.
