Deanna Marie Smith was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2011, as her work for Him here was complete. Born Deanna Marie Waalkens in Kingman on Feb. 15, 1965, Deanna was raised in Kingman and attended Kingman High School for the class of '83. Deanna was a member of HERO and played in the marching band while attending Kingman High School.
Deanna was known in the local church community for being the first girl ever in the Kingman Assemblies of God Church to be crowned as an Honor STAR, an achievement she earned through lengthy studies that would give her life skills and spiritual foundation that would remain with her throughout her life.
Deanna graduated from Tucson Medical College in 2000 and shortly after met the love of her life, Keith Smith, who she would later marry and share the rest of her life with.
In 2001 Deanna and Keith moved to Grants Pass, Ore., where Deanna worked as a lab technician for the Grants Pass Clinic.
Deanna was very active in her family life and in her community where she attended the Edgewater Christian Fellowship Church and was a member of the local Citizens Emergency Response Team.
Kingman remained Deanna's hometown, bringing her back to the area frequently for vacations.
Deanna is survived by her husband and true love, Keith Smith; three sons, Jeffery Hobbs of Kingman, Nicholas Gentry of Troy, Idaho, and Craig Rial of Grants Pass; two daughters, Krista Hobbs of Grants Pass, and Madison Howard of Wyoming; and three grandchildren, Cody and Tyler Hobbs of Kingman, and Keaton Hobbs of Grants Pass. She is also survived by her parents, Tom and Saundra Waalkens of Kingman; and her siblings, Tammy Waalkens of Payson and Chuck Waalkens of Kingman.
Services for Deanna will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the First Pentecostal Church of God in Kingman. Family and friends are invited to come and share in the celebration of her life and rejoice in her victory.
