KAECKER, Robert R.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, July 02, 2011 Robert R. Kaecker (#1 silver fox of Arizona) passed away in Prescott, Ariz., on June 23, 2011, at the age 75, after a courageous seven-month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Freeport, Ill., July 28, 1935, to Viola Nath. At the age of 4, he was adopted by Kenneth and Charlotte Kaecker. He served in the U.S. Air Force Military Police. After completing his enlistment in the military, he moved to Arizona, where he put himself through college, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in justice administration from Northern Arizona University. As a longtime resident of northern Arizona, he pursued a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving Flagstaff P.D., Coconino County S.O., Apache County S.O., Arizona Department of Transportation, and the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control, and was the Chief of Police of Northern Arizona University. After retirement, Bob continued his lifetime service volunteering with many organizations. He was the Past President of the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce, Past-President and member of the Chino Valley school board, member of the Board of Adjustments for the Town of Chino Valley, member of the Elks, Lions and American Legion, and member of the United Methodist Church. Although Bob had no children of his own, he loved children and was always looking for opportunities to service the youth of Northern Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Chino Valley Police Chief Patricia Huntsman-Kaecker; stepchildren Steven Olfers (Shannon), Deanne Peterson and Jody Olfers; grandchildren Zachary Olfers, Callum Olfers-Geoffrion, Kyra, Amber Peterson and Erin Olfers; his beloved canine companion Donnie; his stepbrother David Kaecker; stepsister Pricilla White; cousins Diamond Don (Joyce) Kaecker and Norm Krug (Joan); and hundreds of friends and family. A celebration of life will be at the Chino Valley High School East Gym, 5 p.m., July 28, 2011, Bob's 76th birthday.
