Jeremy Richards - October 6, 1971 - August 15, 2006
Jeremy began his earth walk in Fullerton, Calif., moving to Prescott to begin school in 1976. Although he struggled with many life challenges in his youth, he grew into a beautiful, loving man who explored the boundaries of most aspects of his life.
After graduating from Prescott High in 1990, Jeremy joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to 39th Light Infantry Division serving as a specialist in multinational operations in Central America. He received an honorable discharge in 1998 as Sergeant with the Army Rangers and member of the Manchu Association. Upon discharge, he trained as a plumber working in California and Arizona.
Jeremy had a huge heart, full of love and kindness, along with the ability to make you laugh, helping to lighten your pain. He loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, four-wheeling, and taking his dogs to the lake to swim and play. One of his greatest; passions was motorcycles. From "big wheels" and bicycles to dirt bikes and motorcycles, he rode throughout the back roads of the Bradshaw Mountains and most recently raced at American Motorcycle Association off-road events.
Jeremy was lucky to not only have a loving biological family, but two extended family circles. He challenged many and loved many more. Although Jeremy's life was cut short, his gifts continue to enrich the lives of many through organ donation.
His father, Glenn Richards of Las Vegas, Nevada; mother Cheryl Swan and stepfather Del Swan of Prescott; brother Jeffrey Richards of San Francisco, Calif; and longtime friend and partner Jewela Rice of Eugene, Ore. survive him, along with his grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Jeremy's life will be held on October 28 at Willow Lake Hilltop Ramada from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
One day we will find the courage to accept that the living are not meant to understand death, only to celebrate life; and to remember that the only real death is forgetting.
