Katherine Elizabeth "Katie" Reidy, 83, a longtime Prescott resident, died Oct. 11 in her home. Katherine was born in Denver, Colo., to David John and Kathryn (Falahee) Reidy., both of whom had emigrated from Ireland. Katherine was always fiercely proud of her Irish heritage.
A graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Prescott, Katherine then attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Los Angeles, Calif., graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1944 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Katherine lived in Prescott for the remainder of her life, holding various positions with Yavapai County.
She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church and a charter member of the Claret Club. She also served as a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Democratic Women.
Katherine was an accomplished bridge player, belonging to several bridge groups.
Survivors include cousins Betsy Koehler and Eileen Griffin.
Katherine is remembered with affection by her many friends in Prescott.
A Rosary service will take place at 5 p.m. Monday, October 30, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton in Prescott. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, with the Rev. Richard DeTore officiating.
