DUNN, Mary M. (Midge)

(Maiden Name: Griffith)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, July 09, 2011 Mary M. "Midge" Dunn, 89, passed away on July 5, 2011, after suffering a stroke the previous morning. Born in Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Griffith, Midge spent her early years in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Penn State University. She served in the U.S. Navy prior to moving to Chicago, where she met and married George Dunn in 1950, and was primarily a homemaker in the Chicago suburbs, raising their only child, Connie. Upon George's retirement in 1976, they moved to Prescott, where Midge was active in volunteer activities, including the Prescott Public Library and the Republican Women of Prescott, and had many friends. George passed away in 1998, and in 2004, Midge moved to Tucson to be close to Connie. Midge loved her family, her friends and her animals (her dog Tigger, who died in 2009, and her "granddog" Harley, who misses her terribly). She brightened the lives of all who knew her. Midge is survived by her daughter, Constance Dunn Hillyer of Tucson; and her brother, Lawrence O. Griffith Jr. of Allegany, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews. No services are scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Canyon Association or the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Information provided by survivors.
