DAVES, Marvin Lewis (Dr.)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, July 09, 2011 Dr. Marvin Lewis Daves, 83, passed away on June 30, 2011, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born in Lexington, Va., to Ralph and Adelaide Sutro Daves on Jan. 26, 1928. Marvin was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and The Johns Hopkins University Medical School. In 1962, Dr. Daves came to Denver, Colo., by way of Little Rock, Ark., and Bethesda, Md., to work at the University of Colorado Medical School, serving as assistant professor, professor, chairman of radiology and finally, as professor emeritus at his retirement in 1994. Dr. Daves is the author of various articles and two medical texts, "The Interpretation of Tomograms of the Head" and "Cardiac Roentgenology: Shadows of the Heart," as well as an unpublished novel of fiction. While in Colorado, Marvin was an avid skier, boater and golfer. Upon retiring to Arizona, Marvin took up astronomy and barbecue. He is predeceased by his parents. Dr Daves is survived by his wife, Joy; his sister, Amelia; his children Ann Rebecca (Beebe), Elizabeth and David; and his five grandchildren. Information provided by survivors.
