Sherry Dona, 43, of Bylas, Ariz., was born March 5, 1968 in San Carlos, Ariz. to Carmen and Joseph Dona. She was the fourth of seven children, sisters, Theresa, Jonell, Pamela, Veronica; and brothers, Rufus and Joseph Dona, Jr. She raised two boys, Warren and Xavier Cosen.
In 1973 she began school at Bylas Head Start. She later attended Ft. Thomas Elementary School, Junior High and High School and graduated in 1986.
Sherry was raised in church at her mom’s side. She was actively involved with youth groups and went to the summer Indian Youth Camps in Prescott where she made a lot of friends.
After becoming a Christian she enrolled in the American Indian Bible College in Phoenix where she attended from 1989 to 1995. At Bible College she was involved with many of the school’s activities and ministries. In 1992 she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Business.
After college she returned home and began working for the San Carlos Head Start. She began working as a teacher’s aid and eventually became a teacher where she taught for 14 years. Sherry loved her job. She loved working with children and they loved her.
Sherry was a sweet lady and a terrific person to be around. She had Christian love inside for others and she loved to help people.
Sherry was a prayerful person and before she passed she made herself right with God. On July 5, 2011 in Safford, she went home to be with the Lord. Sherry will be missed by all who loved her; family, friends and co-workers. She is now home with Jesus.
