Clovis (NM) News Journal Wednesday, June 8, 2011 Longtime Clovis resident, Elva Etheridge Bogard Holland, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2011, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she had resided for the past year. She was born in Lockney, New Mexico on February 2, 1924, to Everett and Viola Meeks Etheridge, the second of five siblings. Elva attended schools in Obar and Logan, New Mexico, and lived in Tucumcari before moving to Clovis. The widow of John Holland and loving mother of Kathryn Bogard Hobson (Stan) of Boise, Idaho, Vernon Darwin Bogard (Sharon) of Wickenburg, Arizona, Thomas Lee Bogard (Judy) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Susan Bogard Kempf (Scott) of Clovis, New Mexico, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings (Aaron Etheridge, Alice Patton, Glen Etheridge, and Harold Etheridge) and leaves behind ten grandchildren, as well as 16 great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter. Elva was a longstanding member of Central Christian Church where she also worked as a Secretary and Treasurer for 20 years. Family, friends and church were extremely important in her life, as well as the joy she received from working in her garden, sewing, and bird watching. A celebration of life is scheduled for Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 10:00am at Central Christian Church at 14th and Mitchell in Clovis, New Mexico. Graveside services will be held at Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery at 3:00pm, preceded by visitation at Dunn Funeral Home, Tucumcari, New Mexico from 12:00 to 2:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Children's Home, Portales, New Mexico.
