The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, July 13, 2003 Alice Skinner Slater Jones, 86, of Page, AZ died July 8, 2003, following a long illness. She was born April 5, 1917, in Beaver, Utah; married the late Frank Slater in 1934; married Stan Jones in 1955 at Elko, Nev. The couple moved to Page in 1963. They were co-founders of the John Wesley Powell Memorial Museum there. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Stan (known as "Mr. Lake Powell"); a sister, Roene Boulter of Salt Lake City; sons Frank R. Slater, Robert G. Slater, Michael E. Slater and Steven D. Jones; six grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren. Plans for a memorial service in Page will be announced at a later date. The family asks that donations be given in Alice's name to the John Wesley Powell Museum, PO Box 547, Page, AZ 86040 in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Flagstaff Mortuary.
