Alice Skinner Slater Jones, 86, of Page, AZ died July 8, 2003, following a long illness.
She was born April 5, 1917, in Beaver, Utah; married the late Frank Slater in 1934; married Stan Jones in 1955 at Elko, Nev. The couple moved to Page in 1963. They were co-founders of the John Wesley Powell Memorial Museum there. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Stan (known as "Mr. Lake Powell"); a sister, Roene Boulter of Salt Lake City; sons Frank R. Slater, Robert G. Slater, Michael E. Slater and Steven D. Jones; six grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.
Plans for a memorial service in Page will be announced at a later date.
The family asks that donations be given in Alice's name to the John Wesley Powell Museum, PO Box 547, Page, AZ 86040 in lieu of flowers.
