Darwin L. Jones, 67, of Mesa, AZ entered eternal rest on Sat., July 12, 2003.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1935 in New Ulm, MN.
Darwin was a librarian/ media specialist in the Buffalo Center school system (Buffalo Center, IA 1957-1960), Simley High School (Inver Grove Heights, MN 1960-1987), Shepaugh Valley High School (Washington, CT 1987-1989), Bethel High School (Bethel, CT 1989-1994), Tempe High School (Tempe, AZ 1995-1996), and Mountainside Middle School (Scottsdale, AZ 1996-2001). He received his Bachelors degree from Iowa State College in 1957 where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, and earned his Masters of Library Science from Appalachian State University in 1969. Music was a big part of his life and he sang lead in the following barbershop choruses - North Star Chorus (St. Paul, MN), Big Apple Chorus (New York, NY), Phoenicians Chorus (Phoenix, AZ), and Pride of Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ). He also sang in many church choirs.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruth; his 4 children, son - in - law; 3 grandsons; brother and sister - in - law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and 1 grandson.
Visitation will be Wed., July 16th from 4:00 - 8:00 at Mariposa Gardens - 400 S. Power Rd., Mesa, AZ.
Services will be Thurs., July 17th at 9:00 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church - 612 S. Ellsworth Rd., Mesa, AZ.
