The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, July 13, 2003 Eddie Moreno Jr., 67, passed away July 9, 2003 at his residence in Phoenix, Arizona. Eddie was born October 31, 1935 in Yuma, Arizona. He worked for the V.A. Medical Center DES and served as superintendent of the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Eddie was a 20 year retired veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Ranger in Vietnam where he received such medals as the Silver Star, Bronze Star, C.I.B., 4 OakLeaf clusters, Armed Forces Honor medal 2nd class Vietnam, Staff Service medal 2nd class Vietnam Tactical Advisor 41st Ranger BN, Senior Advisor Advisory Team 50. Eddie was a member of the American Legion and served as Veterans Service Officer, SGT. Of Arms State American Legion. Also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Commander of the VFW Color guard, COOTIE, and 40/8. Survivors include his companion Alicia J. Burrie, Parents; Edward Moreno Sr. & Nellie Aguilar Moreno. Brother; Stephen A. Moreno and sister in law Carmen Moreno. Grandparents Jose Moreno- Estefana Moreno and Jose and Agapita Aguilar. Services will be held Tuesday July 15, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary 2350 E. Greenway Rd. Phoenix, AZ with visitation one hour prior. Additional Services will be in Yuma, Arizona with a Rosary Thursday Night and a Mass on Friday. Burial will be in Yuma at the Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
