Shirley May Roland died Sunday, July 13, 2003 in Flagstaff.
She was 88. Shirley was born in Grant, OK. on February 7, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Bell Rice Wyatt. She had 5 brothers and one sister. In 1933 she married Paul Thomas Roland. Together they moved to Arizona in 1934. Together they had 3 daughters, 1 whom died in infancy. In 1945 while living in Yuma, Shirley went into the real estate business and remained active in it until her retirement in 1982. She was active on both state and local real estate boards and was responsible for many laws designed to protect both the seller and the buyer. The Roland's moved to Flagstaff in 1949 and resided there until retirement. They then settled in Cottonwood for the remainder of their lives together. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; Paul who died in 1998. They were married for 65 years.
Shirley is survived by her sister; Pat Landers of Grant, Oklahoma, her daughters, Billie Faye Beamer of Flagstaff and Pauline May of Cottonwood, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 17, 2003 at 10:00 am, at the Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 East Route 66, Flagstaff.
Graveside service will be Thursday afternoon 4pm at the Cottonwood Cemetery, Cottonwood, AZ.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Olivia White Hospice Home c/o Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002.
