The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, July 16, 2003 Edward Brown, age 89, passed away July 14, 2003 in Phoenix. He was born in New York City and moved to Phoenix 59 years ago. He was the former owner of Merrigay Foods and Donut King in Phoenix. Ed was known as "Farmer Brown". He was a co-founder of Century Country Club, a co-founder of the original Temple Beth Shalom in Phoenix and was also known to sing at Chris Ridge Village. Survivors include his wife Lillian, son Steven (Priscilla) Brown, daughters Meryl (Hyman Dishkin) Fischer and Wanda (Howard) Welcher, sister Edith Shafron, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15th in Phoenix. Contributions in his memory are suggested to RTA Hospice, 1102 E.
