Clence Louis Burns of Tempe died July 12, 2003 at the age of 85.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, Texas, and he and his wife, Ellen of 63 years, came to Arizona in 1947. They have two children, Kathryn Seidel who lives in Lexington, KY, and Nelson, who lives in Albuquerque, NM, two grandsons and 4 great grandchildren. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church on Mill and was a deacon since 1944. He earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at U of A and a Master's degree at ASU. He designed some of the equipment for the first space flight. He worked for Motorola for 30 years.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Services will be handled by Green Acres Mortuary.
Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm and the funeral service will be Friday morning at 10am.
