Seymour Chanin of Morristown (4 years), of Budd Lake (2 years), Roseland (4 years), and Livingston (26 years) died on July 12, 2003. He leaves behind his wife Lucille, children Matthew (of Livingston), Jennine (of Los Angeles), Linda Warshavsky (of Westport, CT) and Nancy Hochberg (of Livingston). A sister, Marian Stewart (Orange, NJ), 8 grandchildren and 1. niece, also survives him.
Mr. Chanin grew up in East Orange, after being born in NYC in 1921. He attended EOHS and Cooper Union College in NYC, where he received his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1943.
He served in WWII, as an Army Staff Sergeant from 1943 to 1946.
After returning home, be ran the family dry cleaning business in EO, Chanin Cleaners until 1956. He then opened the Meadtown Cleaners in Kinnelon, which be sold in 1979, before moving to Sun City, Arizona with his first wife, Phylis, who passed away in 1989, and then moved to Sun City West in 1993. He was a longtime member and former treasurer of Temple Emanu El of Livingston, as well as Temple Beth Shalom of Sun City, Az. He enjoyed designing stained glass and was an honored member of the "70 Plus" skiing club, a sport he enjoyed his whole life.
